Professor Srinath Perera and his research team wins paper award
Professor Srinath Perera, Onaopepo Adeniyi and Solomon Olusola Babatunde of the Construction Economics and Management Research Group have been awarded the "Emerald Highly Commended Paper award" for their paper titled "Analysing community needs and skills for enhancing disaster resilience in the built environment". The award was won at the 5th International Conference on Building Resilience, held at the University of Newcastle, Australia between July 15 and 17 2015.
Professor Srinath Perera delivered a Keynote presentation "Methodology: What it means in Doctoral Research" at the 12th International Postgraduate Research Conference (IPGRC 2015) held in Mediacity, Manchester, UK on 11 June 2015.

CEMRG Ph.D. Candidate wins Outstanding Poster Award
Onaopepo Adeniyi, a PhD student in the Construction Economics and Management Research Group, Department of Architecture and Built Environment, Faculty of Engineering and Environment, Northumbria University was awarded the 2nd Prize of the Second year student category of this year’s Northumbria University Conference Poster competition. He is being supervised by Professor Srinath Perera, Professor Andrew Collins and Dr Lei Zhou. The poster was seen to be simple but attractive, contains every bit of details required yet legible and clearly takes one through the research. Interview with Prof. Srinath Perera, MediaCity, Manchester, UK
The Construction Economics and Management Research Group, Northumbria University held another major symposium on September 15 and 16, 2014. All Ph.D. students in the research group made short presentations on the state of their respective research works. The guest lecturer, Dr Monty Sutrisna – Head, Department of Construction Management, Curtin University, Australia and other senior academics present at the event passed comments and gave suggestions on each work presented.The guest lecturer/researcher also delivered a lecture titled “Introduction to Research Methodology (Postgraduate Research)”. The symposium was rounded off with an interactive session on issues relating to research methodology and doctoral research as a whole.

Successful conduct of ANDROID Online Doctoral School 2014
The second Online Doctoral School workshop of the Disaster Resilience Network (ANDROID) was conducted on 26th & 27th March 2014. The ANDROID network was established from an EU grant bringing together 67 partners from 31 different countries. Dr Lei Zhou's paper wins outstanding paper award
Dr Lei Zhou’s paper “Sustainability Performance Measurement Framework for PFI Projects in the UK” has been awarded as ‘Outstanding Paper 2013’ by the Editorial Team of Journal of Financial Management of Property and Construction. The purpose of the paper is to provide empirical insights about key performance indicators of sustainable PFI project development and a benchmarking for existing PFI project performance measurement. It suggests that successful sustainable PFI projects should integrate technical aspects into the traditional three dimensions sustainability model and achieve a balance between social and economic performance.
